Tell us a little about yourself and what you do.
Eat Me Ice Cream was founded by Catelyn Augustine and Amber Odhner in 2011 for all to lick, savor and cry to. Eat Me is a small-batch, craft ice creamery in Rochester, New York. We are an innovative and irreverent brand, creating superior ice cream in dairy and non-dairy inspired by the bounty and beauty of Upstate and global culinary traditions.
Tell us what you’re passionaite about. What makes you tick?
Creating and providing new sensory experiences; opening a door to experiencing the present.
How did you get started? What were some of the difficulties you faced in starting?
We started with an idea, curiosity, and an insatiable will to succeed. The greatest difficulty was knowing absolutely nothing, and learning through trial and error. We taught ourselves everything, and were (and still are) lucky to find a community willing to support, advise, and encourage us.

What is your biggest regret pertaining to your business?
Our biggest regret is not asking for help earlier and sooner. I think we thought we could do it alone. Things really start to happen and move when you reach out to the community around you. People are energy. Now entrepreneurship is so hot, there is a world out there of resources. Tap into it.
What is your best advice to someone just starting out? What do you wish someone had said to you?
Though it’s commonly said, there is no such thing as “it’s not personal, it’s business”. How you practice business reflects your values and effects your life. Do your homework, make a plan, be confident and don’t be afraid to jump!
What is your favorite part of what you do?
Witnessing people’s surprise and delight when they taste a unique flavor that they have never experienced before.
Name some favorite local creatives/small business owners that you really admire?
Mario, the owner of Natural Pet Foods on South Clinton. We admire his transparent and minimalist approach to business, advice, and exquisite skills in the kitchen.
